Just Not Into It

ACK! Today was one of those days where I ignored my mind and my body and reverted back to my old behavior. I had way too many snacks. It didn't start of that way, however. Breakfast was great with my open fruit sandwich and chia seeds, with watermelon. I am loving my chocolate smoothies from Vega Shake & Go!

Upon returning from my volunteer orientation at Open Books, I fixed myself a lean and beefy taco salad with ground turkey. This delightfully filling dish has black beans and corn mixed with the group turkey. I topped that on a bed of romaine lettuce with a quarter-cup of colby cheese and some cherry tomatoes. Quite yummy if I do say. I had a few dashes of jalepeno sauce, too.

Once I was done with lunch, I wanted to have some of the fruity Irish Bread that I baked over the weekend. I only ate about half of the portion featured in the photo below. But this is where everything started to sort of ... get ... away ... f r....o m ... me.

I first had part-skim mozzarella string cheese. Then I ended up having a heaping handful of chipotle Pringles, which Ryan got for free from last Sunday's Cubs game. Ugh. I haven't reach for any junk food, minus a few weak moments, all summer long. We don't buy any of that stuff, either. I suppose dinner was a much better comeback with some Creamy Corn and Vegetable Soup. Apologies for the poor photo quality. The lighting wasn't the best and our soup is a bit thicker than the recipe. But it was loaded with zucchini, red pepper, and tomato.

I napped for the remainder of the afternoon. ACK! Mid-week blues, man. I want a job, job Gods! Help!

  1. The taco salad looks so good. I want it for my lunch today!
I'm not a big snacker my problem lately has been portion control. It is like my stomach is an empty pit and I just keep eating. Totally something I need to work on!
