Red Mango Lunch

T-minus two days and my Fighting the Pudge cohort and longtime friend, Raina, will be here for the weekend! Hooray! I haven't seen her and her cool British hubby, Stephen, since my wedding last June. We always have a great time hanging out, so I am really looking forward to catching up and exploring some more of Chicago with my two dear friends.

Anyhow, Tuesday kicked off with Post's Shredded Wheat with blueberries and skim milk, and an iced coffee. Man, the more research I do, the more I realize that the majority of cereal on the grocery store shelf is LOADED in sugar. How disappointing! Even some of my old favorites like Wheaties and Total. If I have to do cereal, I try to find something that's low in sugar, like Cheerios. But I used to have Shredded Wheat all the time as a kid, so I thought I'd try it, for some variety. It has 5g of protein and 0g of sugar.

Today, after a good 45-minute workout on the elliptical, I met up with my friend Sarah, who was playing hooky from work, for a movie date. We saw The Kids Are All Right, with Julianne Moore and Annette Bening. EXCELLENT FILM! Go see it.

So with catching a 1pm movie, my lunch time sort of got pushed around and I snacked on a snack-size of Breakstone's cottage cheese and a nectarine before heading out.

Later on, I ended up having vanilla frozen yogurt from Red Mango. WOW! This was my first time at Red Mango and I know I'll be going back if I ever need a frozen yogurt fix. Not only was the madagascar vanilla frozen yogurt incredibly tasty, the fresh blackberries and raspberries on top were the perfect compliment. It's nice to know it's not too bad for you, too.

Red Mango only uses all-natural nonfat yogurt ... so why can't other places do the same?

Dinnertime saw a repeat of Eating Well's Chicken and White Bean Salad.

While I touted this dish in Monday night's post, I think we'll take a back seat on this for a bit. Both nights I didn't feel so hot after eating dinner. I thought it was just because I worked out too late on Monday night. But last night it was more of the same queasy stomach feelings. Maybe it's the mixture of lettuce, I don't know? A diet Vernors saved the day ... but still, not the most pleasant way to end an evening. I'm reconsidering our salmon salad dish for Wednesday too and our tofu stir fry lunch. Just not feeling it. Have any of you experienced this?
